Scan.com Raises $220 Million to Expand the Largest Medical Imaging Network in the US

Scan.com has managed to raise funds worth $220 million that will be used to extend its medical imaging network in the United States. The company intends to create a nationwide diagnostic imaging network. The funding includes a $90 million equity investment and $130 million in debt financing. Noteus Partners led the equity financing while Aviva and others joined.

On the other hand, VerisFi Capital and Atempo Growth financed the debts. This financing will assist in making purchases and working capital as Scan.com grows its business operations. The US market for medical imaging is worth more than $100 billion. However, the industry is still fragmented, expensive, and very manual.

About 85% of these scans are booked either via fax or phone. Thus, a patient can expect to wait for several weeks to book an appointment. Scan.com discovered great variations in pricing across imaging centers as well. The cost of the same MRI can be charged hundreds and even thousands of dollars.

At the same time, certain clinics suffer from long queues for making a booking. There could be centers nearby which have some free capacities of their scanners.

“The US runs around 600 million medical imaging scans a year, and there is still no national infrastructure behind them,” said Charlie Bullock, co-founder and CEO of Scan.com. “Labs got that decades ago with Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp. Imaging never did, and that is what we have built.

As stated by Bullock, the system enables healthcare organizations to find imaging capacity across the country. In turn, patients are able to locate verified centers within days. Scan.com brings together searching for a provider, scheduling of an appointment, and the delivery of results under a single national API.

Scan.com Expands Its AI-Powered Imaging Infrastructure

All digital health firms, health plans, employers, and other such organizations can link up with the help of one single interface. AI also enables physician matching, scheduling, forms filling, and routing of reports. This system will match up the referrals to the availability, pricing, and medical specialties of the physicians.

The Care Guides are accessible through the entire course of treatment. Test results are normally ready within two days. Over 900,000 patients have accessed care via Scan.com’s network that stretches across the globe. The company runs the largest medical imaging network in the UK. Scan.com launched in the US in 2023 and operates throughout the country. The company will use the money raised to grow its network of providers. The company will also invest in the development of its API and agentic AI platforms.

“We have known Charlie and Oli for many years, and few teams have strengthened our conviction as consistently over time as they have. Their bold vision and relentless execution have brought Scan.com to a point where years of investment in patient experience, provider connectivity and proprietary data are increasingly compounding, building an advantage that only continues to deepen with scale and AI,” said Nathalie Bruls, General Partner at Noteus. “Modern healthcare systems need to deliver better outcomes and lower costs. We led this round as we see Scan.com uniquely positioned to power that future, having built the network and intelligence layer for diagnostic imaging.”

“Scan.com’s ability to improve access to high-quality diagnostic imaging while reducing cost and complexity is directly aligned with Concord’s mission to support companies that improve quality, increase access and reduce the cost of care,” said James Olsen, Managing Partner at Concord Health Partners. “We look forward to supporting the Scan.com team as they continue to expand their technology-enabled network and improve how imaging is accessed and delivered across the United States.”
