Swisslog Healthcare Expands Cold Chain Network With PharmaSystems

Swisslog

Swisslog Healthcare has extended its Cold Chain Solutions network with a new partnership with PharmaSystems. Swisslog Healthcare provides automation solutions for pharmacy and transport to healthcare organizations. PharmaSystems is a long-standing supplier of pharmacy products to Canadian clients. Under the partnership, PharmaSystems will distribute the Tenutō Cold Chain portfolio throughout Canada. The company will cater to the pharmacy, laboratory, healthcare and biomedical segments.

The partnership will increase access to Tenutō medical refrigerators and freezers to more customers. It also extends Swisslog Healthcare’s presence into the Canadian healthcare market. PharmaSystems will act as Swisslog Healthcare’s sales partner. The two firms will work together to assist healthcare facilities that need reliable cold storage equipment. The partnership comes as demand for specialty medications keeps growing. Therefore, healthcare facilities are under increased demand to store medication safely and reliably.

“Building a trusted partner network is central to our strategy for making the Tenutō Cold Chain portfolio accessible to healthcare facilities around the world,” said Cory Kwarta, CEO of Swisslog Healthcare. “Together with PharmaSystems, we will ensure that Canadian pharmacies and laboratories have access to purpose-built cold storage solutions as the demand for specialty medications continues to accelerate.”

PharmaSystems Strengthens Canadian Healthcare Reach

Canadian customers have depended on PharmaSystems since 1977. Over the years the company has built up a strong position in the pharmacy supplies. Swisslog Healthcare also enjoys a strong customer base across Canada. It already counts many of the country’s top healthcare systems among its partners.

This partnership expands the presence of Swisslog Healthcare in the Canadian market. At the same time, it provides PharmaSystems with the complete range of Tenutō products. This collaboration focuses on Cold Chain Solutions tailored to the medical industry. These solutions can provide pharmacies and laboratories that require special refrigeration capabilities.

“Swisslog Healthcare’s Tenutō Cold Chain portfolio gives our customers access to purpose-built refrigeration equipment that meets the demands of today’s pharmacy and laboratory environments,” said Hilary Lieberman, Vice President of Business Development at PharmaSystems. “We have spent nearly five decades building relationships with Canadian healthcare facilities, and this partnership allows us to bring them a trusted, high-performance solution that addresses one of the fastest-growing needs in the industry.”

The partnership combines PharmaSystems’ market relationships with Swisslog Healthcare’s cold storage portfolio. As a result, more Canadian facilities can access specialized refrigeration equipment.

Pharmaceutical Cold Chain Storage Demand Growing

Demand for reliable Cold Chain Solutions in healthcare continues to rise. Specialty medications need to be stored in controlled environments during handling and use. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists says 43% of new drugs approved require cold-chain storage. The figure includes approvals from 2018 to 2023. The growth is putting more pressure on healthcare facilities. Many organizations need to modernize refrigeration equipment to support changing medication requirements.

This demand is being met by Swisslog Healthcare’s network of regional partners. Partnering with established distributors allows the company to reach more healthcare facilities. Regional distribution also allows customers better access to specialized equipment. It can also lead to competitive pricing on the market.

“As more specialty medications enter the market, the need for reliable, high-performance cold storage in hospitals and pharmacies has never been more urgent,” said Michael Palone, Pharmacy Affairs Executive, Swisslog Healthcare. “Partnering with established distributors like PharmaSystems allows us to reach more facilities across Canada that are managing increasingly complex and high-value medication inventories, while providing the level of expertise and trust those customers expect.”

The Tenutō Cold Chain series aids pharmacy and laboratory preservation needs. The series includes medical refrigerators and freezers made especially for the health care context. Meanwhile, the PharmaSystems alliance enlarges access to these products in Canada. It also supports Swisslog Healthcare with its network partner initiative.
