Arcus Biosciences and Summit Therapeutics have entered a Kidney cancer treatment clinical trial collaboration. The companies will evaluate a combination therapy using casdatifan and ivonescimab for kidney cancer patients.
The collaboration will evaluate Arcus’ casdatifan safety and efficacy. It will also assess Summit Therapeutics’ ivonescimab performance. These two treatments will be used on clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Casdatifan is a novel HIF-2α inhibitor. On the other hand, ivonescimab is a bispecific antibody targeting PD-1 and VEGF. The combination of the two treatments is expected to offer a novel way of treatment for metastatic renal cancer.

Clinical Trial Collaboration Advances Renal Cancer Treatment Research
The clinical study will involve the introduction of a new cohort to the already existing ARC-20 of Arcus. This trial involves the assessment of casdatifan either alone or together with other possible therapy combinations. The attention of the trial is put on several cohorts comprising metastatic ccRCC patients. According to the terms of the deal, Summit Therapeutics will supply ivonescimab. Arcus Biosciences will then sponsor and conduct the combination study.

Despite the recent developments in cancer treatment methods, there are still a lot of patients with poor survival results. Consequently, new methods with more effective results are being researched. By partnering in clinical trials, Arcus Biosciences and Summit Therapeutics will contribute to cancer immunology research. Moreover, the firms want to find a better treatment for renal cancer.
