BayCare recently announced the appointment of Nicole Johanson as the first leader for its new medical group. She will serve as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the BayCare Women’s Medical Group. This specialized group focuses specifically on advancing healthcare services for women. Johanson officially began her new leadership duties on March 30.
In this position, Johanson will manage the strategy and daily operations of the group. This entity remains separate from the main BayCare Medical Group. This distinct structure helps BayCare build a unique physician model. It also supports existing relationships with various health specialists throughout the region.
Nicole Johanson’s Proven Leadership
“Nikki is a proven leader with the experience and expertise to build this team and strengthen our existing relationships with community providers,” said BayCare Chief Operating Officer Kimberly Guy. “We are excited to have her join us in providing high-quality, compassionate care for the women of West Central Florida through comprehensive health services.”
The new group will work alongside the BayCare Women’s Institute. Together, they coordinate care across the entire life cycle of a woman. Johanson brings over 23 years of healthcare experience to this role. She previously served as the president and chief operating officer at Growth Orthopedics. Her background also includes significant leadership roles at Surgical Care Affiliates and Women’s Care Florida.
“I’m honored to join an organization that makes such a meaningful difference in our community,” Johanson said. “I look forward to partnering with this talented team to build a women’s health medical group centered on high-quality, accessible care.”
Johanson holds a Master of Science in Nursing and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. She is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
