Corcym Announces First-in-Human TriMemo® Implant for Tricuspid Valve Repair

Corcym has announced the first-in-human implantation of TriMemo, its semi-rigid annuloplasty ring for tricuspid valve repair.

“It was a privilege to be part of the team performing the first-in-man implant of the ring for tricuspid valve repair. The device performed very well, and I’m encouraged by what we’ve seen so far,” said Dr. Gillinov.

The procedure took place at Cleveland Clinic in the United States.

A. Marc Gillinov, MD, performed the procedure with his surgical team. Dr. Gillinov serves as Chairman of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He also holds the Judith Dion Pyle Chair in Heart Valve Research. TriMemo represents a new application of Corcym’s established Memo technology.

The company designed the device specifically for procedures involving the tricuspid valve. As a result, TriMemo brings the platform’s experience into an important area of cardiac surgery.

TriMemo was not adapted from a mitral ring. It was conceived for the tricuspid, with graduated stiffness matched to the valve’s anatomy, support for physiological motion, and a design that adapts to every surgical approach, from sternotomy to robotics.

The Memo platform itself serves as a technology rather than a single device. Its foundation features a laser-cut Nitinol architecture with superelastic properties. Corcym has used this architecture for nearly 20 years in mitral valve repair. Now, the company has applied that technology to the specific requirements of the tricuspid valve.

This approach gives TriMemo a distinct role within the company’s cardiac surgery portfolio. Rather than modifying an existing mitral product, Corcym developed the ring around tricuspid anatomy. The design includes graduated stiffness to match the valve’s anatomical structure. It also supports physiological motion during the cardiac cycle.

Furthermore, the device accommodates several surgical techniques used by cardiac surgeons. These approaches range from traditional sternotomy procedures to robotic surgery.Therefore, the company aims to provide surgeons with flexibility during tricuspid valve repair.

TriMemo Marks a New Cardiac Surgery Milestone

The company will next present the technology to the international cardiac surgery community. Corcym plans to formally introduce TriMemo at the EACTS Annual Meeting in October 2026.

The event will also mark 20 years of the Memo platform.

Consequently, the launch will connect the platform’s long development history with its latest application. The introduction also highlights Corcym’s continued focus on cardiac surgery innovation. With TriMemo, the company extends its established technology beyond mitral valve repair.
