EmeraNova™ Expands Wound Imaging Access to Strengthen Clinical Diagnostic Capabilities

Wound Imaging

EmeraNova, the newly coined corporate name of BioLab Holdings, has announced a partnership with Kent Imaging to further advance the availability of its innovative wound imaging technology for emerging applications. The medical technology company has been working to develop an advanced tissue restoration platform. After celebrating the recent milestone launch, the company has expanded into a new category and aims to reach a new healthcare market.

Kent Imaging, a technology innovator in the field of advanced imaging solutions, will team up with EmeraNova to bring its wound imaging technology to a greater number of healthcare providers. These include wound care clinics, surgical centers, hospitals, and hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs) to support clinicians in the assessment of wounds and clinical decision-making.

The partnership builds upon Kent Imaging’s recent success. The company is now planning to broaden its reach to other healthcare providers. The new partnership will enable EmeraNova to offer its wound imaging solutions to more clinicians in the coming months.

“This collaboration with Kent Imaging is a proof point of the direction we’re headed,” said EmeraNova President & CEO Jaime Leija. “Not only are we expanding the diagnostic category of our toolbox of products, a crucial step in the tissue restoration journey, but these technologies will allow us to aid clinicians’ ability to make diagnoses in a much wider range of care settings, providing a deeper, more advanced look into a patient issue.”

Advanced Imaging Supports Wound Assessment

Kent Imaging’s SnapshotNIR and SnapshotGLO technologies work in tandem to identify two critical barriers to wound healing. These barriers are low tissue oxygenation and high bacterial bioburden. The two imaging technologies combined allow clinicians to better understand the condition of wounds. They are able to make decisions more clearly, confidently and quickly.

The combined imaging capabilities also provide for earlier, more targeted intervention. Such a strategy can help health care providers to make better treatment choices and to reduce delays in wound management. – These technologies also add information that can be used for clinical assessment in the tissue restoration process. SnapshotNIR provides a non-invasive, low cost method for the assessment of superficial tissue. The technology measures and reports estimated tissue oxygen saturation (StO2). It also measures the relative concentration of oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin in superficial tissue.

These measurements give clinicians additional information about tissue oxygenation. Therefore, healthcare providers are able to use the imaging results to assist in their assessment of the wound conditions. The technology provides clinicians looking after patients requiring wound care with an additional diagnostic resource. This approach is supported by SnapshotGLO, which helps users identify increased bacterial loads in wounds. The device is a portable, hand-held system using ultraviolet light. It detects fluorescence emitted by bacteria at levels above 10⁴ CFU/g*.

As an adjunctive tool, SnapshotGLO provides a visual indication of elevated bacterial loads. This capability helps clinicians gain further insight into wound conditions during assessments. In combination, SnapshotNIR and SnapshotGLO offer complementary imaging information for wound care professionals.

Kent Imaging and EmeraNova Strengthen Clinical Decision-Making

“The strongest clinical decisions begin with a clearer understanding of what is happening beneath and around a wound,” said Pierre Lemire, CEO of Kent Imaging. “Partnering with EmeraNova allows us to pair advanced imaging insights with a broader tissue restoration strategy, helping clinicians connect assessment to next steps with greater confidence.”

This partnership extends the reach of Kent Imaging’s advanced imaging capabilities into EmeraNova’s broader tissue restoration strategy. Also, the collaboration connects wound assessment technologies to a broader approach to patient care . Clinicians can use the complementary imaging findings to gain a better understanding of the wound condition and assess appropriate next steps.

Wound imaging technology can help healthcare providers to make better assessments. It also allows for more diagnostic information to be obtained in the assessment of factors that may influence wound repair. This partnership will allow both companies to offer these capabilities across a broader range of clinical settings.

Expanding Access via a Broader Healthcare Network

The collaboration is part of EmeraNova’s ongoing strategy to develop one of the most complete tissue restoration toolboxes in the industry. The company is also pursuing partnerships with companies developing advanced regenerative, imaging and therapeutic technologies.

With these partnerships, EmeraNova seeks to integrate complementary solutions into its tissue regeneration platform. It will also have a commercialization network to facilitate the broader adoption of Kent Imaging’s technologies in healthcare settings across the country. The expanded portfolio will be marketed to wound care clinics, surgical centers, hospitals and HOPDs. This broader availability will allow more opportunities for health care providers to access advanced wound imaging tools.

Ultimately, the partnership is part of EmeraNova’s larger goal of expanding its diagnostic capabilities and tissue restoration offerings. It also supports the companies’ joint focus on providing clinicians with more information to help assess wounds. As the partnership expands, EmeraNova will leverage its commercialization network to bring Kent Imaging’s imaging technologies to a wider audience.
