Prime Healthcare has secured a position among the Top 10 health systems nationwide for patient safety. The recognition follows 22 Prime hospitals receiving an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for Spring 2026. Additionally, Prime Healthcare achieved a place among the Top 5 health systems nationally for “Straight A” performance. This milestone highlights the organization’s continued commitment to delivering safe, high-quality healthcare services across communities.
The latest achievement reflects Prime Healthcare’s strong focus on improving patient outcomes and maintaining high standards in healthcare quality. Furthermore, the recognition demonstrates the dedication of physicians, nurses, caregivers, and hospital teams across Prime’s national healthcare network.
“The ‘A’ Grades are a strong sign that hospitals are deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning these distinctions.”
Prime Healthcare Strengthens Patient Safety Standards Nationwide
As one of the largest physician-founded and physician-led health systems in the United States, Prime Healthcare continues to transform community hospitals into leading centers of clinical excellence. Moreover, the organization focuses on providing accessible, compassionate, and high-quality care for patients across the country.
Among the 22 Prime hospitals that earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade, 19 facilities achieved consecutive top ratings across multiple grading periods. Therefore, these results represent a sustained culture of safety, accountability, and healthcare excellence.
“Patient safety is the foundation of clinical excellence and the promise we make to every patient who entrusts us with their care,” said Sunny Bhatia, MD, President and Chief Medical Officer, Prime Healthcare. “This national recognition reflects the daily standard of quality, consistency, and accountability upheld by our physicians, nurses, and caregivers across the country. Safety is not simply a measure of performance at Prime, it is a reflection of who we are.”
Furthermore, six Prime Healthcare Foundation hospitals received an “A” grade in the latest evaluation. East Liverpool City Hospital in Ohio achieved 17 “Straight A’s” since 2018. Meanwhile, Mission Regional Medical Center in Texas secured 12 consecutive “A” grades since 2020.
“We are very proud that several of our Foundation hospitals have earned ‘Straight A’s’ for so many consecutive cycles, which reflects a culture grounded in purpose, accountability, and deep care for the communities we serve,” said Kavitha Bhatia, MD, President and Chair of the Prime Healthcare Foundation. “We are truly grateful to our physicians, nurses, and care teams whose commitment to safety and quality brings hope to the lives of patients every day. It is genuinely inspiring.”
Leapfrog Recognition Highlights Healthcare Quality Excellence
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade remains the nation’s only ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries. In addition, the grades undergo peer review and maintain complete transparency. The organization updates these evaluations twice every year during spring and fall cycles.
Prime Healthcare’s latest patient safety recognition reinforces its ongoing mission to strengthen community hospitals and expand access to reliable healthcare services. The organization continues to focus on clinical quality, patient protection, and improved healthcare experiences.
Over the past year, Prime hospitals received more than 150 clinical quality awards from Healthgrades. Additionally, Prime hospitals have earned recognition among the nation’s “100 Top Hospitals” by Premier 75 times.
The Lown Institute also recognized Prime Healthcare as a Top 10 Health System for social responsibility, health equity, and clinical outcomes. As a result, Prime continues to support hospitals that serve as essential healthcare resources for communities nationwide.
This achievement further establishes Prime Healthcare’s leadership in patient safety, healthcare innovation, and quality improvement. Through continued investment in clinical excellence, Prime Healthcare remains committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and effective care for every patient.
