Sofinnova Partners Expands Life Sciences AI Innovation Through AWS Collaboration

Sofinnova Partners Launches Collaboration with AWS to Scale AI Across Life Sciences Innovation

Life Sciences AI continues to reshape healthcare innovation as Sofinnova Partners launches a new collaboration with AWS. The initiative aims to help life sciences startups scale research and commercialization faster.

Sofinnova Partners announced the collaboration with Amazon Web Services to expand AI capabilities across its investment platform and portfolio companies. The company also plans to enhance Sofinnova.AI, its internal initiative focused on integrating artificial intelligence into core operations.

Sofia Platform Strengthens AI Adoption Across Life Sciences

At the center of the initiative is Sofia, Sofinnova’s proprietary AI platform. The company will now introduce a founder-facing version built on AWS infrastructure. In addition, the platform will provide AI-powered support for competitive analysis, benchmarking, licensing insights, and partnership opportunities.

The collaboration also gives Sofinnova-backed startups access to tailored AWS cloud services and technical support. As a result, startups can move more efficiently from early-stage research toward development and commercialization.

“AI is becoming central to how new therapies are discovered, developed, and brought to patients,” said Antoine Papiernik, Chairman and Managing Partner at Sofinnova Partners. “With Sofinnova.AI and Sofia, we are building capabilities that strengthen both our investment approach and the companies we back. Working with AWS reflects both the maturity of this effort and our conviction that the next generation of life sciences leaders will be built differently.”

The partnership also addresses infrastructure and workflow challenges that many healthcare companies face during AI adoption. Therefore, Sofinnova combines its sector expertise with AWS cloud technologies designed for life sciences applications.

“We are proud to support the future of life sciences innovation through this collaboration,” said Dan Sheeran, VP and General Manager, Healthcare and Life Sciences at AWS. “AWS has worked closely with the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry for nearly two decades, with 19 of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies trusting us to power their most sensitive research workloads. By combining AWS’s industry-specific services and solutions with Sofinnova’s track record in building life sciences companies, this effort aims to help bring new therapies and solutions to market faster and at scale.”
