UF Health Kidney and Liver Transplant Programs Again Rank Among Nation’s Top Programs

UF Health Transplant Programs have once again achieved top national recognition for their outstanding transplant care outcomes. The latest SRTR data ranked UF Health’s adult kidney transplant program first nationwide for one-year graft survival among transplant centers.

In addition, the adult liver transplant program at the healthcare institution was ranked among the best three transplant programs in the country. These rankings reflect the dedication of the organization towards offering quality transplant services to its patients.

The SRTR publishes performance reports twice a year. Such reports give valuable information to both patients and health care providers. They evaluate transplant centers using key criteria, including patient survival and graft survival. The assessment also considers waiting list mortality and transplant wait times.

UF Health Strengthens Leadership in Kidney and Liver Transplant Care

Based on recent SRTR findings, the medical center’s adult kidney transplant program ranked first nationwide. The program surpassed more than 200 transplant centers. It achieved the highest one-year graft survival rate after surgery.

The program outperformed national and regional benchmarks in several other areas. This includes shorter waiting times and improved results for patients prior to transplantation. Georgios Vrakas, MD, MSc, PhD, credited the achievement to the dedication of the medical center’s transplant team. He highlighted their commitment & collaboration.

However, the adult liver transplant program at the medical center is also maintaining an excellent track record. The program has been among the top three in the country for one-year graft survival rates for over five consecutive years.
