Smart Meter and eClinicalWorks Double RPM Growth in 2025, Advancing the Future of Connected Healthcare

Smart Meter, a leader in Cellular RPM™ solutions, announced a 107% year-over-year surge in remote patient monitoring (RPM) device usage among eClinicalWorks (eCW) providers in 2025, crossing 25,000 active devices. The growth reflects the collaboration’s mission to simplify connected care and enhance remote monitoring for the 133 million Americans managing chronic conditions.

More than 180,000 eClinicalWorks providers now use Smart Meter’s integrated platform to enroll patients, monitor vital signs, and track chronic diseases directly via the eCW RPM module. This integration delivers secure, real-time data—including blood pressure, glucose, weight, oxygen saturation, and heart rate—without the connectivity issues common in Bluetooth® devices.

“eClinicalWorks approached us to overcome major Bluetooth® challenges,” said Casey Pittock, CEO of Smart Meter. “Our cellular ecosystem eliminates complexity and ensures smooth data flow within the EHR providers already use.”

Patients benefit from the simplicity of cellular devices that require no apps or Wi-Fi. According to studies, 71% of people with diabetes believe remote monitoring helps manage their condition, and 62% say they’d test more often if results were sent automatically to their doctor. Together, Smart Meter and eClinicalWorks aim to increase engagement, proactive care, and reimbursement reliability for clinics.

Girish Navani, CEO and cofounder of eClinicalWorks, highlighted the strategic impact: “By integrating Smart Meter’s cellular data with our AI-powered EHR and Rural Health Platform, we’re enabling practices to deliver more proactive, value-based care and reach underserved communities.”

Smart Meter’s fully integrated cellular-based RPM platform remains unique in its SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA certifications, built on a private AT&T-backed data network. Its FDA-cleared devices use multi-carrier SIM technology to ensure secure, nationwide data transmission.

The partnership’s rapid expansion comes ahead of significant RPM reimbursement changes effective January 1, 2026. Under the new CMS Physician Fee Schedule, codes CPT 99445 and CPT 99470 will reimburse for shorter data transmission and clinical review periods—broadening provider participation and accelerating adoption of scalable, connected care models.

With this momentum, Smart Meter and eClinicalWorks continue to lead the digital health transformation—making continuous, connected care an everyday standard for patients and clinicians alike.
