Healthcare and life sciences executives agree: AI has the unique power to transform the industry and improve health for patients around the world. “There is enormous opportunity to expedite discovery for treatments and cures, reduce the growing administrative burden and cost, and improve healthcare access while expediting health outcomes,” says Deana Kraft, vice president of healthcare and life sciences go-to-market at ServiceNow.
AI is already having an impact. Eighty-three percent of healthcare providers cite improved experiences, and 83% of life sciences organizations report an increased ability to innovate faster. One global life sciences company, for example, is using AI to advance its understanding of diseases and identify drug targets, as well as to speed interpretation of genomics data.
AI will have a widescale impact
“It takes over a billion dollars and more than 10 years to bring a drug to market,” says Rory Kelleher, senior director of global business development for healthcare and life sciences at NVIDIA. “Thousands of diseases lack treatments, leaving millions of patients waiting. AI could dramatically streamline and accelerate clinical trials, which account for 70% of the time and cost.”
