ECU Health and Artisight have announced a major partnership. This collaboration brings groundbreaking Smart Hospital Technology to eastern North Carolina. ECU Health is a crucial rural health system. It serves residents in 29 eastern North Carolina counties. Artisight will initially deploy its platform at five ECU Health hospitals. These sites include Bertie, Chowan, Roanoke-Chowan, Duplin and North Hospitals. They will expand the deployment to more facilities next year.
This new platform makes specialized telehealth services more efficient. It expands access from ECU Health Medical Center to remote patients. Consequently, patients can now speak directly with specialized providers. They receive high-quality specialty care without having to travel. The system significantly reduces care transfers and delays for patients.
Artisight’s platform uses sophisticated Healthcare AI. It integrates cameras, microphones, and other smart devices. Furthermore, the technology works seamlessly with existing electronic health records (EHRs). This connection supports better care coordination and streamlines clinical workflows. Specifically, AI sensors instantly detect high-risk patients getting out of bed. They automatically notify clinical teams. This feature helps prevent patient injuries and speeds up staff response times. Virtual nursing and monitoring also extend the reach of available clinical staff.
Brian Floyd, ECU Health Chief Operating Officer, commented on the deployment.
“ECU Health serves one geographic third of North Carolina,” Floyd stated. “Many patients live in remote rural communities across our region. This means we commit to building the national model for rural health care. This platform helps patients get high-quality specialty care close to home.”
Dr. Andrew Gostine, Artisight CEO and co-founder, also explained the platform’s necessity.
“Rural hospitals must maximize their limited resources,” Dr. Gostine explained. “Our Smart Hospital Platform creates the infrastructure for the hospital of the future. Patients can access the highest quality care no matter where they live.”
This strategic move enhances overall access to advanced care. It clearly underscores ECU Health’s commitment to regional well-being and innovation.
