Insulet Corporation recently announced the commercial launch of its Omnipod 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System in Spain. This expansion also introduces the company’s proprietary data management system, Omnipod Discover, to the Spanish market. Consequently, Spain becomes the 26th country to offer Omnipod products. It also marks the 20th global market to provide the Omnipod 5 tubeless insulin pump system.
This strategic move aims to improve the lives of individuals managing diabetes globally. Currently, Spain has over 4.6 million adults living with diabetes. This population includes roughly 189,000 individuals with type 1 diabetes who require daily insulin.

The Omnipod 5 system provides a tubeless, wearable, and waterproof solution for continuous glucose regulation. The device automatically adjusts insulin doses every five minutes. Therefore, it improves overall glycemic outcomes and reduces HbA1c levels without daily injections. Furthermore, the system communicates directly with continuous glucose monitors. In Spain, the device works seamlessly with the Abbott FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus and Dexcom G7 sensors. The technology safely protects users against blood sugar highs and lows.
