Nebius announced the final winners of its expanded AI Discovery Awards today. The prominent AI cloud company hosts this annual showcase to honor pioneering startups. These young firms use artificial intelligence to drive massive advances across healthcare and life sciences.
In 2023, the 2026 AI Discovery Awards program featured two new tracks. The new categories are Medical Device and Medical Imaging. They are additions to tracks in BioPharma, Genomics, and Digital Health. This expansion shows the growing importance of AI in clinical settings. Moreover, these sectors are heavily reliant on inference-intensive workloads.
The international competition attracted 647 applications from across the globe. An independent panel of 28 expert judges evaluated each submission. Judges represented leading pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and venture capital firms. The judging criteria for the candidates were technical innovation, global impact, and market sustainability.
First-place winners in each category earned $100,000 in vital compute and inference credits. Meanwhile, second- and third-place winners secured $50,000 and $30,000, respectively. Nebius handed out these honors at a live ceremony in London.

Launching Specialized AI Cloud Platforms
Alongside the main awards ceremony, Nebius previewed its upcoming scientific platform. The new Nebius Scientific AI and Healthcare Platform offers highly specialized tools. The company built this infrastructure specifically for demanding research organizations.
Biotech and pharmaceutical teams helped design the new cloud services. The platform directly addresses two primary use cases for researchers. First, private model hosting lets companies secure proprietary models safely. This method eliminates high, dedicated GPU overhead costs entirely. Second, a unique feature allows custom scientific workflows. Scientists prefer these reproducible jobs over standard inference endpoints.
The AI Discovery Awards also featured Regional Trailblazer titles this year. These new honors recognize outstanding companies around the globe. Five regional winners each received $30,000 in compute credits. The winners include Check Me, Hummingbird Bioscience, Owkin, Arkangel AI, and Xaira Therapeutics.
